Online Learning Activities

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SYSO has been working to move learning opportunities online. Following is a list of the activities we’ve moved online so far!

Masterclasses Series (AYOP)
SYSO hosts masterclass video series on orchestra excerpts led by volunteers from Seattle Symphony

Collaborative Performance Videos (All Programs)
Several upcoming collaborations between students from different SYSO programs and with other local arts orgs

Mentoring Program (AYOP)
Older students connect with younger students to offer mentoring and practice guidelines remotely

SYSOTalks (AYOP)
Lecture series where Maestro Molano and guests share insights into topics relevant to all musicians such as auditioning, memorization, sight reading, etc. Learn more.

Virtual Hangouts with Maestro (AYOP)
Students from Youth Symphony Orchestra discuss SYSOTalks topics together and sometimes get a challenge from the Maestro

Conductor Feedback Videos (AYOP)
Students send videos to their orchestra conductor for performance feedback

Cadenza Afterschool Orchestra Club Mini-Lessons (SITS)
4th and 5th grade Cadenza students receive short lessons from SYSO coaches

Musical Pathway Project Professional Development (SITS)
Local music teachers are offered professional development opportunities by SYSO coaches

Online Conservatory Courses (SCM)
Seattle Conservatory of Music classes have moved online

Digital Outreach Concerts (SCM)
Students from the Seattle Conservatory of Music collaborate to create performance videos in place of in-person performances at local retirement communities
